This video is a propulsive, jittery celebration of the motorway that jumps in and out of time with the Ornette Coleman Quartet on the soundtrack. On a dazzling day in November 2016 I was a passenger being driven from London to Oxford. I filmed spontaneously out of the window, continually triggering the auto-focus function which caused mini exposure changes and freeze frames in the video as the camera desperately tried to get a grip. The resulting film is an interplay between these technological foibles, the car’s velocity, the passing landscape, and the flashing sun. Thanks to Harry & Daisy for driving.
